My name is Allyson Moore, and I am the Baker Bunny. I started Chubby Bunny Bakery with the encouragement of my family hoping that I could help others like me to be able to enjoy delicious and wholesome treats made with organic ingredients and without anything processed or artificial.
I have dealt with multiple health issues most of my life, going from one doctor and specialist to another, and I had been tested and falsely diagnosed with pretty much everything under the sun. Finally, one doctor did a full allergen workup and discovered that I had multiple food allergies. It was such a relief to finally know what was causing all of my ailments.
Thus began my adventure into seeking out ways to make healthy foods and treats that I could enjoy. My mother and husband are my biggest cheerleaders, and the two of them encouraged me that there must be other people in the same position and would enjoy these treats as well. My mother helps with the packaging and my husband does the heavy lifting and taste testing.
When I started Chubby Bunny, I did all of my baking from home. Looking back, it’s hard to believe that I produced as much product as I did from our home kitchen. I quickly outgrew that and we moved into Findlay Kitchen, which was an amazing learning experience. After working out of that space for just over a year, we found a small space here in our hometown of Hamilton, Ohio. The space was very rough, and the building owner was difficult to deal with, but with lots of hard work and patience we made it into a space that we are proud of. We share the space with our best friends the Chickpea Chicks. They make amazing fresh organ humus—you should try it!
